Mechanism

The Bariatric range comes with the option of choosing one of the following mechanisms:

• Single motor 3 way
• Single motor tilt in space
• Dual motor tilt in space
• Standard dual motor

They all of which have different features which are described in more detail In the Mechanisms Section, including video clips.

Always ensure that the weight limits are checked for the client and particularly for conditions such as Lymphedema or Oedema.

Three Tier Waterfall Back Cushion

Depending on the model chosen there will be either a fixed or removable three-tiered waterfall back cushion.

With the three removable and replaceable waterfall cushions they can be repositioned enabling the user to be seated and their posture supported correctly to meet their individual needs. The comfort and postural options are further enhanced with the ability to adjust the firmness of each individual cushion by adding or taking away fibres.

Covers can also be removed for cleaning or replacement. See Back Cushion Section for details on this back cushion.

Back Blockers

On some of the models back blockers come as standard, on others they are available as an optional accessory.

At the back of the waterfall cushions, sleeves can be fitted to accommodate the blockers to provide additional postural support. The position of each back cushion can be adapted with blockers to adjust the shape and support for the specific needs of each user. Blockers are provided as standard.

Pressure Management Seat Cushions

There is a choice of 5 interchangeable seat cushions each with different pressure management features. You can purchase one or more cushions to support the different needs of individuals who may use this chair.

Cushions and covers are removable for cleaning. With all these seat cushions we recommend a fabric with four way stretch properties to aid reduction of shear and friction. See Seat Cushion Section for details of the individual cushions.

Chaise Cover

The Bariatric chairs benefit from a single, full seat cover. This chaise reduces the risk of pressure areas developing due to pinch points and shear and friction when the chair reclines. Designed with a memory foam insert the chaise offers deep comfort.

The chaise cover and memory foam can be removed for cleaning and replacement. Optional memory foam or gel seating for added comfort and pressure management.

Arm Rest Design

There is a choice of three different styles of arm rest depending on the model chosen. For further details see Optional Accessories Section.

• Scroll
• Wooden Knuckle

Handset Loop and Deep Side Pocket

These are positioned on the right-hand side of the chair. If you want them on the left hand side of the chair please request this on ordering.

Heavy-duty Glides

These come as standard on all of the models.

High Wear Areas

The following covers, in matching fabric, can be purchased to protect high wear areas:

Headrests

There are five headrests to choose from, all of which come with a Velcro tab allowing them to fit over the top cushions. For further details on each of these options please refer to the Headrest Section.

Arm Rest Designs*

The Bariatric models can have a choice of three different arm rest styles as shown below. With the wide arm style there is the option to upgrade to a Memory foam or Coolform gel interior with a vapour permeable fabric.

Heat and Massage Systems*

There is the option to choose either a heat only system or a heat and massage system.

Heat Only System

This system comes with two heat modules, one fitted into the seat of the chair and the other in a loose cushion heat pad that you can use behind your back, on your lap or to one side. The pads are controlled separately with an easy to use handset which has two temperature settings.

Heat and Massage System

The Relaxor helps soothe tired and aching muscles with gentle vibration and warmth. A separate handset controls different vibration zones built into the chair to massage upper back, lower back, upper and lower thighs and calves. Choose your own intensity and speed of each of the pairs of pads. The heat pad in the bottom lumbar of the back cushion completes the relaxing process, exactly what is needed at the end of the day.

Please note: It is recommended that you consult a healthcare professional or doctor if you suffer with a medical condition or have any medical device fitted (e.g. pacemaker) before purchasing this system.

Reading Lamp*

A reading lamp can be chosen which will be fitted on manufacture.

USB*

A USB charging point can be fitted to the chair to charge or operate items such as a mobile phone, tablet or ipad.

Foot Rest Gel

For additional support for the foot-rest area gel can be added.

On the removable back cushion they can be repositioned enabling the user to be seated and their posture supported correctly to meet their individual needs. The comfort and postural options are further enhanced with the addition of the blockers that adjust the shape and support of the back cushions, and the ability to adjust the firmness of each individual cushion by adding or taking away fibres. Covers can also be removed for cleaning or replacement.

This back style can be useful for those with mild kyphosis, scoliosis and reduced muscle mass on their back.

Waterfall

Individual fibre filled waterfall cushions, each of which are fully adjustable to accommodate maximum postural support. The waterfall back can be useful for those with mild Kyphosis, Scoliosis and reduced muscle mass on their back.

Easiform

For standard seating, our softest foam cushion with high quality Reflex foam filler for gentle comfort.

Firmaform

For our standard seating, a cushion that provides a more supportive and firm seat with a high-quality filler from Reflex, the foam specialists.

Viscoform

For those who have good posture and mobility but are seated for greater than one hour at a time and require pressure relief and supported comfort. This cushion has a high-density foam base which offers a supportive and firm seat base with a top layer of memory foam to allow immersion into the cushion, giving stability and a large surface area to reduce pressure levels.

Liquiform

For those who have good posture and mobility but sit for long periods of time and require pressure relief and supported comfort. Recommended for people with limited muscle bulk or at risk of excessive weight loss. This cushion has a high-density foam which offers a supportive and firm seat base. The foam is topped with a fluid liquid gel in a soft silicone cover which provides a high level of pressure relief. The liquid gel helps to dissipate heat and constantly adapts to the user’s movement.

Coolform

For those sitting for long periods with specific comfort issues such as a high risk of pressure sores. This cushion uses the latest medical grade silicone gel technology allowing pressure to be evenly distributed. The gel conforms to the shape of the body and equalises to body temperature. The gel cells allow air to flow easily and Coolform is totally odourless and hypoallergenic.

Head Roll

The head roll is useful to reduce depth for anyone with reduced neck extension or needing to keep their head in a neutral position for tasks such as eating or drinking whilst maximising comfort and reducing effort.

Small Head Pillow

The small head pillow provides additional comfort for those who may require a softer surface to rest on whilst stopping hyper-extension at the neck when reclined or tilted.

Small Profile Headrest

Similar to the large profile headrest but support is focused more on the head and neck.

Large Profile Headrest

This headrest provides a combination of lateral support at the head, neck and shoulders whilst offering additional comfort and reducing neck extension.

Midline Headrest

The midline headrest provides postural support for those with some form of midline deficit, following a stroke resulting in proprioceptive deficit or unilateral neglect for example. It is also useful for those with reduced lateral muscle strength or tolerance (such as sternocleinomastoid).

Accupak Rechargeable Battery System

The Accupak power pack enables you to use the chair away from a power supply. The battery provides an average of up to 100 adjustment cycles and will need recharging regularly to retain the quality of usage. It can be charged by simply plugging it in. The system sits out of sight under the chair and the charging outlet is built into the side of the chair.

Please note that the Accupak is not compatible with the Reading Lamp.

20 Cycle Back Up Unit

This back up system comes as stand-alone unit that can carry out up to 20 chair adjustments. It should only be used as an emergency back-up system.

Enclosure Skirt

The enclosure skirt hides the mechanism when the chair is either in the full rise or recline positions. This has been designed to stop small pets entering the mechanism whilst in the recline or rise positions.

Standard Two-Year Warranty

Two years on mechanisms and frame.

One year on air seat cushions and also on some additional accessories such as the Accupak, 20 Cycle Back up and Relaxor heat and massage systems, upholstery and electrics.

Advanced Seating Solutions Ltd will repair or replace, at our discretion and free of charge to the original purchaser, any parts covered by this warranty and that on examination, are found to be defective in material and/or workmanship. The warranty is for parts and labour only. The product or parts requiring repair/replacement must be returned to Advanced Seating Solutions Ltd by you and you will be responsible for the costs of packaging, postage and any postal insurance.

Any products returned to Advanced Seating Solutions Ltd must be disinfected and should pose no health hazard.
